Blackberry Silver Dollar (Myleus schomburgkii ‘blackberry’)
A rare, selectively bred colour form of the Black Bar Silver Dollar (M. schomburgkii), the Blackberry or Blueberry Silver Dollar originated with breeders in Asia and remains hard to find. With a distinct blueish-black blotch that covers most of the body and deep red fins, these fish are a colorful and showy addition to any larger community aquarium. Care and behavior is the same as with the more well-known Black Bar or Blue Hook Silver Dollars. Important to note that Silver Dollars love to eat plants, and if put in a planted tank, will most likely eat everything.
The Blackberry Silver Dollar is an attractive, freshwater schooling fish known for its rounded body, silvery coloration and distinctive darker, blackberry-like markings. It is an excellent choice for larger community aquariums and adds plenty of movement and character to a setup.
Blackberry Silver Dollars are primarily herbivorous/omnivorous and should receive a varied diet.
A varied diet helps maintain healthy growth, coloration and overall condition.
Silver Dollars are well known for eating and damaging aquarium plants.
