Black Bar Silver Dollar Fish

The Black Bar Silver Dollar (Myleus schomburgkii) is a larger tetra species that has only recently been bred in captivity. This omnivorous species eats a great deal of vegetable matter and it is a very active schooling fish that makes for a great display fish in larger aquaria. They are peaceful and make good tankmates for most fish.

The Thin Bar Schomburgkii Silver Dollar is a South American species closely related to both Piranha and Pacu, and are native to same South American rivers, streams and tributaries. 

The Black Bar Silver Dollar (Myloplus schomburgkii) is a striking South American freshwater fish known for its bright silver body, rounded shape and distinctive dark vertical markings. A active schooling fish, it makes an impressive addition to larger community aquariums.

Black Bar Silver Dollars are native to South America, particularly parts of the Amazon and Orinoco river systems and surrounding waterways. They inhabit rivers, tributaries and flooded forest areas with plenty of vegetation ( not suitable for tanks with plants).

They are primarily herbivorous/omnivorous, with plant matter making up an important part of their diet.

Black Bar Silver Dollars are generally peaceful and active schooling fish. They are best kept in groups, where they tend to display more natural behaviour and feel more secure. 

They are generally hardy & easy to care for when provided with good water quality, a suitable diet and sufficient swimming space.
