Tiger Silver Dollar Fish are attractive, active freshwater fish known for their rounded, laterally compressed bodies and distinctive darker vertical markings, giving them their “Tiger” appearance. They are schooling fish that make an excellent addition to larger community aquariums.

Tiger Silver Dollars originate from South America, where silver dollar species inhabit rivers, tributaries, flooded forests and areas with dense aquatic vegetation. They are adapted to warm, tropical freshwater environments.

They are primarily herbivorous/omnivorous, with a strong preference for plant-based foods.

A good supply of vegetable matter is particularly important for maintaining healthy growth and natural behaviour.

Tiger Silver Dollars are generally, active schooling fish. They should be kept in groups rather than individually, with 4 or more recommended where aquarium space allows. Keeping a proper group helps them feel secure and encourages more natural behaviour.

Regular water changes and good filtration are essential for keeping these active fish healthy.

Tiger Silver Dollars are plant-eating fish and may nibble or destroy aquarium plants.
