Black Silver Arowana

The Black Silver Arowana (Osteoglossum ferreirai) is a rare and striking freshwater predator native to the rivers of the Amazon Basin in South America. Known for its elongated body, metallic silver scales with dark black hues, and graceful swimming style, this fish is a favorite among exotic fish collectors.

The Black Silver Arowana is native to tropical South America, primarily restricted to the Rio Negro basin, including the Branco River. They were discovered in the 1970s in the Orinoco Basin as well.

Carnivorous – prefers a protein-rich diet consisting of live or frozen foods such as shrimp, fish, insects, and pellets designed for predatory fish.

Black Silver Arowanas requires a tank with a secure lid, as they are known jumpers. Regular water changes and powerful filtration are essential.
